Axis Etched Cup

Terrill blows each glass in Tandem's hot shop and then uses a lathe to cut the design directly into the glass. The lathe's diamond wheel allows for cuts on the glass that are unlike sandblasting or acid etching.  Inspirations include Ikat weaving where overlaying patterns create a richly textural complexity and Kintsugi where functional items flaws are revered and stylized in tribute to its usefulness. Each glass is unique in size, shape and pattern. Size: 4" tall x 3.5" wide with some variation.
